In order to catch up with fast growing Middle East ICT and green energy market, Taiwan ICT Middle East Delegation Group, led by Dr. Lee, CEO of Institute for Information Industry Taiwan, just paid a visit to Oman, Qatar and Kuwait in October, 2010. There are several significant Taiwan ICT solution venders, like III, Decision Group, InfoExplorer, Taiwan GIS Center, THI Consultants, Jrsys Intl., ITRI, and Softfoundry Intl., and others in this delegation group.
The target markets and visits in this trip are Oman, Qatar and Kuwait, which are the members of Gulf Cooperation Council, GCC, with Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and UAE. It is the most significant and influence organization in Middle East region in terms of economic development, political cooperation and oil production. It is estimated that the total combined GDP of six GCC countries is around US$10T in 2010, which is far above half the total GDP of all Arab countries. In order to diversify their economic from petrochemical to other emerging industries, those countries invest lot of in fundamental construction, and this huge potential business is waiting for Taiwan ICT vendors.
Recently III has good results in several countries such as Qatar, Kuwait and Oman, and also work with several Taiwan ICT vendors, InfoExplorer, Unitech, Microprogram…etc, in the projects for Kuwait institute of Scientific Research (KISR), and Oman government.
In this trip III signed a cooperation agreement with KISR for promoting ICT construction and technology exchange on monitoring, green energy, and medical between Taiwan and Kuwait. This agreement will be actually as a platform for all Taiwan ICT vendors to enter Middle East market.
In order to increase business opportunities for Taiwan ICT vendors, III also arranged several events with commerce and industry chambers of each country. Through close communication with local industry and ICT company, III hopes it will be helpful for Taiwan ICT vendors to enter this market.
